When an at-risk patient (as defined here) tests positive for COVID-19 they need to be referred onto the CMDU for consideration of prescribing treatments for COVID-19. Please note not all patients who are referred will be deemed suitable for treatment. This is determined by assessment by clinicians who run the service.
The preferred option for referral is:
• Send patients a link to the online COVID Medicines Portal (covidmedicinesdeliveryunit-derbyshire.nhs.uk) via text message or email to self-refer into the service.
If this is unsuitable, other options for referral include:
• Via eRS (speciality of 'Infectious Diseases' and the clinic type of 'Not Otherwise Specified)
• (not for patient or public use) 0300 1000 432 option 2
• ucd.admin@nhs.net
When you make the referral please include:
• Patient details (including any contact numbers you have)
• NHS number
• What condition they have that means they are at-risk (as defined here)
• Date of symptom onset and date of positive test
Please advise the patient that if they have not had a call back from the CMDU provider within 24 hours to ring NHS 111.
