Reason for Referral

Vague symptoms which are worrying, please use the Non Site-Specific pathway on ICE.

Non-specific pain and abdo symptoms:

  • Lasted more than 3 weeks
  • Lasted less than 6 months
  • Malignancy suspected within differential diagnosis
  • No red flag symptoms

Non-specific weight loss/appetite loss symptoms:

  • Recent and unexplained
  • > 5% weight loss
  • Not previously investigated
  • No likely benign diagnosis
  • No red flag symptoms

Patients presenting with suspected metastatic malignancy on diagnostic imaging with undefined primary and no red flag symptoms or signs to direct to site specific clinic – refer to Malignancy of Undefined Origin (CUP)

For further GP guidance, consider using crhft.imaging-secs@nhs.net.

If tests abnormal, then please refer the patient to the appropriate site specific 2WW pathway: e.g. abnormal chest x-ray to Lung 2WW Pathway, iron def anaemia to Upper GI 2WW Pathway, etc.
